Parent Partnership

We welcome parents as partners and support a two-way sharing of information that helps establish trust and understanding.

We are committed to supporting parents/carers in an open and sensitive manner to include them as an integral part of the care and early learning team within the nursery.

We aim to:

  • Support parents/carers as they are their children’s primary and most important educators.
  • Involve parents/carers in the life of the setting and their child’s education.
  • Values each parent/carers thoughts, ideas, opinions, and beliefs.
  • Work together as one to nurture and care for the children providing the best level of learning and care possible.

Key person system

The key person system supports engagement with all parents/carers and will use strategies to ensure that all parents can contribute to their child’s learning and development. Parents/carers contribute to initial baseline assessments of children’s starting points on entry and they are kept well informed about their children’s progress. Parents/carers are encouraged to support and share information about their children’s learning and development at home. The key person system ensures all practitioners use effective, targeted strategies and interventions to support learning that match most children’s individual needs.

As a nursery setting, we currently use the Famly App software system. An app that you can download on your phone. We use the app to give you a brief description of what your child has participated in throughout the day, we also upload the food that they have eaten and how much they have consumed, bottles, nappies invoices and more.

Famly is very interactive; you will be able to see pictures and videos of your child at nursery. Your child’s key person will complete two observations a week which is linked to the milestones in the EYFS according to their age. You can access this and check where your child is on the development scale.

As we are aware children may achieve some important milestones at home and this is something we do not want to miss out on. You are more than welcome to upload observations and both pictures and videos from home, this enables your child’s key person to link it to the development matters and provide a homelier approach to your child’s development. We will host parents evening once a year, you will be given a detailed report of how your child is developing, this is also an opportunity to discuss your thoughts, ideas, concerns and more with your child’s key person.
